Crew for Southern Circuit 2010
Wanting to Crew? Looking for Crew? send a note to Jan (office@lightningclass.org) in the Class Office.
I'm trying to find boats in need of crew for the circuit. I'm Brian Hayes's nephew. I have a potential ride in Miami, but if I can find people to sail with, I would like to sail in all 3 regattas. I'm 24 and enthusiastic, and have sailed my own boat, but don't have a ton of experience crewing. I'm also about Brian's size and realize that many people like to keep crew weight light. So I'm looking to learn more than anything else. My cell is 203-260-7292 and the best email address to reach me at is david.lutian@gmail.com or lutiad@rpi.edu.
Monica Trejo is available to crew for the Southern Circuit. 773-354-9007 or montrejo@yahoo.com
Bill Allen is available to crew in St Pete, contact him at (765) 749-7370 or billallen-ba@comcast.net

As I sit here watching the snow come down in mass here in Philadelphia I think about how great the SOUTHERN CIRCUIT will be. I can remember driving out of our driveway with four inches of slushy snow at our feet and the rain coming down heading for the south with the boat…. boy what a thrill it was to see the sun and the warmth halfway down the coast knowing we are getting closer and closer to shorts, tee shirts, pulling off the cover and stepping the mast. I have been crewing and sailing lightnings for over 35 years and nothing beats the circuit. It is a great way to begin your season, you return home with a jump on your competition for the cobwebs are gone and you are psyched. For me, it pulls me away from the craziness of work and forces me to do some physical exercise…. you know it gets me off my chair doing something I really enjoy. It is therapeutic for us starchy executives. I am saying that from experience for last year I convinced myself that I had to work through the down turn of the economy in order to save my business and as always generate sales. Boy, what a mistake, for if I had taken the time to sail the circuit, the change, the rest, the revitalization would have made 2009 a lot easier to deal with. 2010 WILL BE A BETTER YEAR FOR ALL OF US…. it has to be, and for me the circuit is a requirement.
Come down, bring your crew…. if they won’t come, put a boat together with the skippers within your fleet….better yet, make it a family affair. You won’t regret it.
If you haven’t been to the southern circuit let me give you a feel for what you can expect
Savannah Yacht Club --- While the water is still a bit cool and the river is a challenge, the atmosphere, the people, the club is something you are bound to appreciate.
Then Comes Miami
Corel Reef Yacht Club --- You sail out with the dolphins, the water is warm and the sailing is top notch. There is a pool with a bar right next to it, St. Pete has one too…. everyone hangs around after the races and simply enjoys the people and the atmosphere.
Then Comes St Petersburg
St. Petersburg Yacht --- The last of the three, generally speaking the largest of the three regattas, on the bay in the sun…. again top level race committee and top level sailing.
Keep in mind, all if it is a lot of pure fun for everyone. COME!!!!!
