The Charleston Yacht Club Open is in the books. Once again, Lenny shown the fleet how to get it done Congratulations to Lenny, Laura and Beau on their 2, 1, 1, 4 finishes. Fighting it out for 2nd place was Mark Marenakos and Carter Cameron who tied with 11 points.

Though the conditions were forecasted to be light on Saturday, the sea breeze filled in nicely and gave the teams a perfect 12-15 knot southerly with a few shifts at the top. When asked at the debrief what his overall strategy was, Lenny simply stated, “I played the shifts and payed little attention to the current.”

The fleet gathered around the Quantum Cooler after racing on Saturday for a Q&A with Lenny and Carter. Topics shared were boat setup, starting tactics, downwind tactics in the current and how they handled the awkward reaching finish leg. All-in-all, the group came away with some solid information and some laughs.

A huge shout out to Catie and Danny for hosting the lighting group at their home Saturday evening.

There was no racing on Sunday due to a lack of wind and thunderstorms.

Thank you!

On behalf of the Charleston Lightning Fleet, I would lie to extend a huge thanks to the Carolina Yacht Club for allowing the Lightning Fleet to launch from their wonderful facility last weekend. We understand that this taxes the facility and team greatly and want to show our appreciation.
