Youth Worlds Action in Sheboygan!!!
Today was to have been the 2nd day of racing at the 2020 Harken Blockheads Youth Worlds in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. This year was North America’s turn to host and the members of Sheboygan Yacht Club spent many months constructing the foundation upon which a successful regatta was to be built. Generous donations of loaned boats, committed volunteers and a great title sponsor were in place, ready to welcome the teams intent on battling for the title of the 2020 Lightning Youth World Champions.
These Youth were planning to travel from Brazil and Buffalo; from Chile and New York; from Ecuador and Rhode Island. Others would have arrived from Ohio, Colombia, Greece and Thunder Bay. Friends from past Youth Worlds would be reacquainted and many new friendships made. The racing would be intense, sportsmanship would abound and memories made.
But alas, this experience is on hold. Rather than lament our loss, we will embrace the chance to anticipate this event for another year. The tentatively scheduled 2021 Youth Worlds in Sheboygan is predicted to be outstanding and worth waiting for!!! More information will be announced in the coming months.
