Donald W. Sherburne (April 21, 1929 - April 21, 2021)
Professor of Philosophy Emeritus, Lightning Sailor, Father and Friend. Don started the graduate philosophy program at Vanderbilt and served as Department Chairman for many of the 38 years of his career. He rode his bicycle to school every day. Sailing for Don was a family affair whether on Lake Dunmore or Old Hickory. Don was Commodore of the Harbor Island Yacht Club (HIYC) in 1976 and won the North American Lightning Masters Championship in 1994. A true gentleman and a life well lived. He will be missed.
