8 Bells... William (Bill) Clausen
It is with sadness we share the passing of Bill Clausen on December 2. A lifelong Class Member who was a leader and perennial champion of Fleet 99 on Great Egg Bay in Ocean City, NJ and later with Fleet 196 in Surf City and Fleet 11, North Shrewsbury River. He also enjoyed success as part of race management and regatta photography. He served the Class for 23 years as Chief/Assistant Measurer. Click on the link to read a tribute to Bill. He will be missed by many. Those with a special memory or comment to share about Bill can do so at the bottom of the tribute page. 
 
Regatta DATE Changes
 
The January New Year's Regatta/ FL Winter Series #3 in Sanford, FL was pushed back one weekend and will now be held January 23-24, 2021. Registration is live. This regatta will now also serve as the Florida District Championship. 
 
The February St Pete NOOD Regatta was postponed to April 2-4, 2021.

Corky Gray is at it again! See the December 8th Blog Post where Corky tells us about the link between test pilot and flying ace Chuck Yeager and the Lightning Class. Also see what the 1941 Flashes tells us about the early history of the Class.
 
Now that all of our Flashes and Yearbooks are posted in the website archives there is so much more we can learn!

Please be sure to submit your results with CREW NAMES to the Class Office. If you have a short summary and a few photos even better! If your regatta isn't listed here - be sure to add the event to the ILCA Event Calendar and send in results after the regatta!

Canadian Open Championship
The 2020 Canadians in Thunder Bay were cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. We are excited to instead host the 2021 Canadians in Thunder Bay. We encourage you all to come sail with us on Lake Superior in the 2021 Canadian Opens. Labour Day Weekend. Hope to see you all then! Sail the largest fresh water lake in the world. Great Fun. Great Competition.

Flash Blasts

Monthly E-mail Blasts on the 15th of each month. 

Deadline is 7 days prior to the e-mail date. 


During busier months (June, July and August) or as needed we will also add a second monthly blast on the 1st of each month.
