Call for Bids - 2025 North American Championship

CALL FOR BIDS
The ILCA is currently seeking bids to host the 2025 International Lightning Class Association North American Championships

AREA/REGION HOST: Southeast and Southern USA

To the best extent possible, the host should seek to provide:
• A venue conducive to terrific sailing as well as on shore activities during the Sep-Oct-Nov 2025 Timeframe.
• Ability to host 45-65+ Teams over a 3-4 day racing period preceded by a day for practice.
• Ability to staff a first-class race committee, jury and appropriate number of safety boats. ILCA will have final approval of PRO.
• Ability to provide space for boat measurement (including weighing and sail measurement) and Class Meetings.
• Overall trophies for skipper and crew, 3 per boat for top 5-10 places based on number of entered.
• Ability to provide the above for a reasonable registration fee, to include a $50.00 per boat fee payable to the ILCA.
• An ILCA Class Representative may be appointed to act as a liaison between the RC and the Class. If applicable that person would be stationed on the main RC Boat.

Deadline for bids: August 1, 2024. Winning bid will be announced during the 2024 ILCA North American Championships at the Buffalo Canoe Club, August 8-11, 2024

Bids should also include:
• Facility Details: Boat parking, hoists, dock space, fresh water hoses, showers/bathrooms, bar/restaurant options, meeting rooms, etc.
• Recommendation of preferred dates and the average conditions that time of year.
• Tentative schedule and events included with registration fee.
• Local Details: Are there any local housing/accommodations? How far are most accommodations to the host site? Do you need a car? bike? or can you walk? Is the area friendly and welcoming? Can a couple walk around feeling safe? Outline local activities/attractions available, particularly for family members that may be attending but not competing.

Arrangements can be made for the ILCA website to be used as the regatta website for information posting and on-line registration purposes. No scoring component is associated with this. A small fee will need to be incorporated into the budget to cover this service. Please inquire. The use of other scoring programs is welcomed, Yachtscoring, Regatta Network or Clubspot.
