International Lightning Class Association Membership

Membership dues are good for eleven (11) months after the month you joined. So regardless to when you join, your membership is good for one year. For example, join in February, and your membership is good through January 31 of the following year. All money paid to I.L.C.A. as dues in excess of the regular dues for Active Members, Associate Members, and Crew Members shall be charitable contributions to the I.L.C.A.

Your membership directly supports the daily communication between 100+ fleets and nearly 1,700 members spread out over ten different countries. This includes developing and maintaining the class web site and publishing the Flashes newsletter and our electronic information updates, Flash Blasts! Please make sure we have your current e-mail and postal addresses.

The easiest way is to join or renew is to use the on-line options via the Member Signup link. If you have trouble or would prefer to send a paper check please use the printed forms below.

If you have been a Class Member anytime from 2013 until now, please select the Member Login button from the Home Page for a RENEWAL Option . If you do not know your User Name or Password click the "Forgot Username/password" link. Use the email address where you use to get emails from the Class.

Active Skipper, Boat Owner — $75.00

May only be held by an owner, part owner, a bona fide leasee (on record at ILCA Headquarters), a Service Fleet representative, or a member of a club which maintains a Club Lightning. He or she may skipper in any sanctioned or non-sanctioned race or regatta. An Active Member may hold office and vote. Active Members receive website login credentials, can post Classified Ads for free and have access to the Class newsletter Flashes via email. Copy of the printed newsletter may be purchased in addition to membership.

Member Signup

Associate — $40.00

Must be a non-owner of a Lightning yacht. He or she may be enrolled as part of the crew of a specific yacht and may skipper in any sanctioned or non-sanctioned race or regatta. An Associate Member cannot hold office or vote. Associate Members receive website login credentials, can post Classified Ads for free and have access to the Class newsletter Flashes via email. Copy of the printed newsletter may be purchased in addition to membership.

Must be a non-owner of a Lightning yacht. He or she may be enrolled as part of the crew of a specific yacht. An Crew Member cannot hold office or vote. The Family Membership is designed for immediate Family Members who reside at the same address.

1 Primary Active Boat Owner ($75), up to 5 Associate/Secondary Members ($40) and up to 5 Crew/Tertiary Members ($15).

The Primary Boat Owner may only be held by an owner, part owner or a bona fide leasee (on record at ILCA Headquarters). He or she may skipper in any sanctioned or non-sanctioned race or regatta. An Active Member may hold office and vote. Active Members receive website login credentials and access to the Class newsletter Flashes via email. Copy of the printed newsletter may be purchased in addition to membership.

The Family Membership is designed for immediate Family Members who reside at the same address.

1 Primary Life Member ($0), up to 5 Associate/Secondary Members ($40) and up to 5 Crew/Tertiary Members ($15).

The Primary Life Member shall be entitled to all of the privileges of an Active Member so long as such member meets the requirements for Active Membership. He or she must be eligible for active membership to be elected, and may retain such membership after ceasing to be a Lightning owner. Life Members receive website login credentials and access to the Class newsletter Flashes via email and printed copy.

Associate/Secondary Members may be enrolled as part of the crew of a specific yacht and may skipper in any sanctioned or non-sanctioned race or regatta. Life Member - $0.00

A Life Member shall be entitled to all of the privileges of an Active Member so long as such member meets the requirements for Active Membership. He or she must be eligible for active membership to be elected, and may retain such membership after ceasing to be a Lightning owner.

Life Members will be asked to log into their Membership Accounts each year to "renew" their membership and update their contact information. Life Members can only renew by logging into their personal account. If you are a Life Member and do not know your member log in information please contact Laura in the Class Office.

Life Membership nominations can be submitted to the Class Office and are due by December 1st each year and are voted on by the Executive Committee.

Fleet Membership - $30.00

For Fleets - Annual dues paid directly to the ILCA. Fleet dues expire December 31 each calendar year. Fleet Membership is maintained by the Fleet Captain.

Fleet Captains will maintain a separate Fleet Membership Account. Fleet Dues can only be renewed by logging into a Fleet Account. All Fleets have a current account. If you are a Fleet Captain and do not know your Fleet log in information please contact Laura in the Class Office. Fleet log in information can be passed down from Fleet Captain to Fleet Captain.
