| Winter Meeting Notices/ Update
Annual Winter Meeting of Members will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM Eastern Time via a Virtual ZOOM Meeting. The meeting invitation link was emailed to all members but here is the link again in case you missed it: Zoom Registration Link for Annual Winter Meeting
At this time no items have been presented for vote.
If you would like to be added to the agenda or if you have something to share during either meeting, please send a request or short written report to Class Secretary Jeffers office@lightningclass.org or contact Class President David Starck at president@lightningclass.org by Monday, April 8th.
Please note that Personal and Fleet Dues must be current in order to vote.

A Governing Board Winter Meeting was held Saturday, March 9, 2024.
One item was presented for vote and PASSED. The following temporary amendment to the Document Governing, Articles Which Apply Specifically to the North American Championship, Section XIII, Racing Conditions will be in affect for the 2024 NAs Temporary Amendment - Doc Governing, NAs Article XIII Racing

The Chilean District is preparing to put on a fantastic Youth World Championship! The Notice of Race is posted.
Notification of Country Representation was due to the Class Office April 1, 2024.
Current Countries Committed: ARG (1), BRA (1), CAN (1), CHI (3-4), COL (1), ECU (1), GRE (1), PER (2), USA (2). FIN (1) and ITA (1)are still pending.
Registration on Yachtscoring will be live soon. | Wow! We had some beautiful sailing conditions in Florida this year! 7 races over 3 days in St Pete and then we kicked off Miami with a day of 3 great races in picture perfect conditions - check out the cool recap video link below.

| | U32 is a new Lightning class initiative focused on strengthening the younger generation in the class by creating fun, competitive events to boost camaraderie and connections among young sailors after aging out of junior events. Join the party at the 12th Annual Moonshine Regatta held at the Virginia Inland Sailing Association on beautiful Smith Mountain Lake! This weekend always includes an on-fire social, intense racing, and a stunning mountain backdrop!
Start your sailing season with us. Inland lake racing, great facilities, two hoists, professional race mgmt, and a Kentucky Derby watch party with mint juleps and the winner receiving bourbon.

The MVLD will held on Lake Decatur, IL at the Commodore Decatur Yacht Club. This will be a open Lightning regatta with seperate scores to determine MVLD champion.

This is the Dixie District Championship, along with the Doc Gilbert Potomac Cup Regatta. Open to all Lightning Sailors. A beautiful venue, with Potomac River over 2 miles wide at this location. Camping is permitted. Additional details will follow.

Calling all sailors aged 35+ come and sail in the Pan American Masters Championship - Cleveland, OH!
Loon Lake is 30 minutes east of Thunder Bay and each year hosts a really enjoyable regatta. It's inland lake sailing at it's finest both Saturday and Sunday with a welcoming BBQ at the Walsh's Saturday evening. Please come join us for the weekend. The drive is quite pretty and we'd be glad to billet those who join us. Loon is also the first half of the Central Canadian Districts just to add a little spice for those contemplating attending.

Short course racing on the Chesapeake Bay
Amethyst Harbour, 20 miles east of Thunder Bay, on Lake Superior, is a pretty nice introduction to Lake Superior sailing. Thunder Bay, Lake Superior, is a “small” 20 mile wide bay on 350 mile long Lake Superior. What a setting for a sailing weekend. The races are around local islands with Saturday's two races around closer islands and Sunday's single race around Caribou Island. All are stunning and Caribou's cliff's add real drama to the race. Saturday evening the Bailey's host a BBQ and make sure the sauna’s really hot of all the Finnish wanna be's. It's most certainly serious racing for the Crystal Trophy, sailed yearly for almost a century now, but any Lightnings that are not so serious are really welcome for wonderful sailing. We'd be glad to billet those from out of town and we'd love to have you join us.
All are welcome to beautiful Squam Lake in Holderness, NH. See recently-adopted qualification exceptions (in addition to normal ILCA qualifications) for NE WJM.
